Early Life and Education
Vadim Solomonovich Slavin was born on February 27, 1946, in Melitopol, Ukraine. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute in 1970. Subsequently, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences in Novosibirsk.
Academic Career
After completing his education, Professor Slavin held the position of Chair of the Department at Krasnoyarsk State University. He also served as a leading research scientist at "KATEKNIIugol." Subsequently, he became the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Physics at Krasnoyarsk State Technical University (KSTU).
Currently, Professor Slavin is the Head of the Department of Thermal Physics at KSTU. He holds the titles of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Electrical Engineering Sciences, and Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education.
Research and Contributions
Professor Slavin has made significant contributions to the field of plasma space energy propulsion systems. He has developed a novel concept for such systems and published over 120 scientific papers. His research has been widely recognized.
Honors and Awards
From 1994 to 2000, Professor Slavin was awarded the Russian Presidential Stipend for his scientific achievements.
