Vaid Talgayev
Early Life and Football CareerVaid Talgayev is a Soviet and Kazakhstani football coach and former Soviet footballer. Born in Tajikistan, he grew up in Kazakhstan, developing his love for football at an early age. In 1976, he joined the renowned FC Kairat Almaty, where he played for several years, helping the team achieve notable successes. In 1980, he returned to his ancestral home in Grozny, Russia, and played for FC Terek Grozny for a year.
Coaching Career
Early CoachingTalgayev began his coaching career in 1990, taking over as head coach of FC Khimik/Fosphor/Taraz in Kazakhstan. He guided the team to several significant achievements, including a third-place finish in the Western Zone of the First League in 1993.
Success in Kazakhstan
In 1995, Talgayev returned to Taraz and won the silver medal in the Kazakhstan Premier League. The following year, he led the club to its first championship title, solidifying his reputation as one of the most successful Kazakhstani coaches.
International Experience
In 2000, Talgayev became head coach of the Kazakhstan national team, where he oversaw several international matches. He also led the team to victory in the 2004 Kazakhstan Cup and two wins against the Polish club Lech Poznań in the UEFA Cup qualification.
Return to Grozny
Talgayev returned to FC Terek Grozny in 2003, leading the team to promotion to the Russian Premier League in 2004. He also coached the club to its first Russian Cup victory in 2004, receiving the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" from the Russian government.
Later Coaching Career
After leaving Terek Grozny in 2007, Talgayev coached FC Zhetysu Taldykorgan, FC Atyrau, and FC Taraz. He also served as interim head coach of Terek Grozny in 2013. In 2017, he returned to Taraz for a fourth time but resigned in 2018.
Personal Life
Talgayev identifies as Chechen but has expressed a deep connection to Kazakhstan, stating that "in my soul I am Kazakh." He is married with children and enjoys spending time with his family.
