Early Life and Education
Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the Russian author and translator received his bachelor's degree in Romance and Germanic Languages from Tashkent State University.
Career as Translator and Ecologist
After completing his degree, he worked as a translator and coordinator for ecological programs. His first published short stories appeared in the journal "Zvezda Vostoka" in 1995.
Move to Belgium and Academic Studies
In 2000, the author relocated to Belgium, where he pursued graduate studies at the Université Libre de Bruxelles. He earned both his Master's and Ph.D. degrees in Ecology. While in Belgium, he worked as a consultant for an environmental consulting firm.
Literary Publications
The author's novels, stories, and novellas have appeared in various literary magazines and anthologies, including "Zvezda Vostoka," "Novaya Yunost," "TextOnly," "Novy Zhurnal," and "Kreschatik." He has published two collections of prose: "Zhalitvoslov" (2007) and "Posledniy Magog" (2009).
Translation Work
The author has extensively translated novels and short stories from English and Scottish literature, including works by Flann O'Brien, Russell Hoban, Theodore Francis Powys, Eric Stenbock, and others. He also compiled a two-volume collection of the works of Michel de Ghelderode (2004).
