Biography of Valeriu Jereghi
Valeriu Jereghi is a Moldovan, Russian, and Soviet film director and screenwriter. He was born on October 29, 1948, in the Moldovan village of Strășeni. After graduating from the Directorial Faculty of the Chișinău Institute of Arts in 1970, Jereghi completed his studies at the Directorial Faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in 1975.
Career
Jereghi began his career working at the "Moldova-Film" studio and has also worked in Yugoslavia, Romania, Austria, Hungary, Germany, France, and Russia. He became a member of the Union of Cinematographers in 1978. In 2006, he founded the film company "PRIM-PLAN STUDIO" and the "Valeriu Jereghi Actors Agency".
Director
Jereghi has directed several films, including "Autumn Meeting at Home" in 1972, "Morning" in 1975, and "The Stork" in 1978. He has received numerous awards at international and all-Union film festivals, including the Mangheim Award (FRG) and the Saloniki Award (Greece) for "The Stork".
Screenwriter
In addition to directing, Jereghi has also worked as a screenwriter. He co-wrote and directed "Everything Could Have Been Different" in 1983, for which he received the second prize at the All-Union Film Festival in Leningrad and the first prize at the All-Union Young Filmmakers Festival, among other awards.
Documentary Filmmaker
Jereghi has also made several documentary films, such as "Children Without a Home" in 1993 and "Spiritual Heritage" in 1999. His documentary "The Krasnodar Krai. Orlionok" in 2003 received awards for best screenplay, cinematography, and direction.
Other Works
In addition to his film career, Jereghi has worked in theater as well. He directed the theatrical-television production of "In Snake Skin" at the National Theater "Mihai Eminescu". Jereghi is also the author of the book "Cinematic Novellas" and has been published in various magazines, including "Nistru", "Codri", "Tinerimia Moldovei", "Ekran i Stsena", "Iskusstvo Kino", and "Kinoscenarii".
