Early Life and Family

Varda Petrosyan was born on March 19, 1928, in Bucharest, Romania. In 1946, at the age of 18, she moved to her ancestral homeland, Armenia.

Acting Career

Lenakakan Dramatic Theater:

Petrosyan studied at the studio of the Leninakan Dramatic Theater (now Gyumri Dramatic Theater) and made her stage debut there in 1947.

Armenian State Theater of Drama:

In 1958, she joined the Armenian State Theater of Drama in Yerevan, where she became a prominent actress.

Personal Life

Petrosyan was married to Gevorg Ambrosovich Abajyan (1920-2007), a renowned Soviet and Armenian literary critic and theater scholar.
