In April 1942, Bachurin joined the defense of Sevastopol, where he was wounded. Following medical treatment, he saw action again in the defense of Novorossiysk from August 1942. His bravery in these battles earned him the Order of the Red Star.

Heroic Exploits on "Malaya Zemlya"

In February 1943, Bachurin participated in the fierce battles on "Malaya Zemlya," a fortified headland where Soviet troops held their ground against heavy German attacks. For his valor, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.

Liberation of Southern Ukraine

In April 1943, Bachurin was appointed commander of a sapper squad in the 384th Independent Marine Infantry Battalion. He played a crucial role in the liberation of Taganrog, Mariupol, and Osipenko. His actions earned him the "For Battle Merit" and "For Courage" medals.

The Battle for Nikolaev

In March 1944, Bachurin joined an elite landing force tasked with attacking Nikolaev and diverting enemy attention away from the main Soviet offensive. After landing in the city's port, the force fought valiantly against overwhelming odds, repelling 18 attacks and killing nearly 700 German soldiers.

In the fierce fighting, most of the landing force, including Bachurin, perished heroically. In recognition of his exceptional bravery, Bachurin was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on April 20, 1945.
