Early Life and Education

Born on July 15, 1948, Valery Gerasimov embarked on his agricultural journey by completing his studies at the Rechitsa Agricultural College. Later, he pursued an advanced degree in Animal Science from the Grodno Agricultural Institute and went on to earn a qualification in Political Science and Social Studies from the Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

Career in Agriculture

Gerasimov's professional career commenced as a Zootechnician-Breeder at the "Zaozerye" collective farm in the Oktyabrsky district of the Gomel region. After serving in the Armed Forces, he held various positions within the "Progress" collective farm in the Grodno district, including the Head of Livestock Production and the Deputy Chairman.

Political Involvement

Gerasimov's foray into politics began as an Instructor at the Grodno Regional Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus (CPB). He subsequently rose through the ranks, serving as the First Secretary of the Mosty District Committee of the CPB.

Leadership at "Progress-Vertelishki"

From 1995 onwards, Gerasimov played a pivotal role as the Chairman of the agricultural production cooperative "Progress-Vertelishki" in the Grodno district, contributing significantly to its success.

Political Representation

Gerasimov represented the Grodno Regional Council of Deputies and served as a member of the Permanent Commission on Agrarian Issues and Environmental Protection. He also held a position in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, where he participated in the Permanent Commission on International Affairs and National Security.

Legacy and Passing

Valery Gerasimov's unwavering commitment to agriculture and his service to his country left an enduring legacy. He passed away on July 1, 2024, at the age of 76.
