Venjamin Lvovich Teplits: A Renowned Soviet Surgeon

Born on December 28, 1879, in Grodno, Belarus, Venjamin Lvovich Teplits dedicated his life to the field of medicine.

Early Career and Education

Teplits graduated from the Kiev University in 1911, commencing his medical journey as a resident physician at the Obukhovskaya Hospital. He held this position from 1911 to 1914, after which he served as a hospital resident at the same institution until 1925.

Rise to Academic Excellence

In 1935, Teplits became the head of the women's surgical department and the head of the surgical department at a medical institution. In 1932, the Obukhovskaya Hospital was transformed into the 3rd Leningrad Medical Institute, where Teplits assumed the role of head of the department of topographic anatomy and operative surgery, a position he held until 1937.

Professor of Surgery at the Naval Medical Academy

In 1940, Teplits was appointed as a professor at the Department of Hospital Surgery at the Naval Medical Academy. Throughout his tenure, he showcased his exceptional surgical skills and pedagogical brilliance.
