Biography of Vera Shpak
Early Life and EducationVera Shpak, a Belarusian and Russian theater and film actress, was born in the capital of Belarus in February 1989. She grew up in a family with no connections to the world of theater and film. Her father worked as a professor at the Radio Engineering University in Minsk, while her mother was a doctor. In her early years, Vera dreamt of seeing herself on screen, but as she grew older, she thought this dream was unrealistic. In high school, she decided to become an interpreter and enrolled in a local linguistic university after graduating. However, after a couple of years studying English at the Minsk University, she transferred to the St. Petersburg Institute of Foreign Languages. It took her another one and a half years at the language faculty to realize that this was not her path. The atmosphere in St. Petersburg helped her remember her childhood dream of becoming an actress. She mustered the courage to leave the linguistic university and found support from a friend who had graduated from the St. Petersburg Theater Academy. This friend prepared Vera for admission to the theater institute, and soon the aspiring actress set off to conquer the capital. She was accepted into the Moscow Art Theater School on her first try and enjoyed studying there under the guidance of Konstantin Raikin. In 2013, Vera Shpak graduated from the school.
Acting Career
Vera Shpak's desire to stay in Moscow and join Konstantin Raikin's Satyricon theater remained just a wish. The aspiring actress returned to St. Petersburg and approached Valery Fokin, the director of the Alexandrinsky Theater. After they met, Valery immediately accepted Vera into his theater, and her creative biography began on that stage. From 2013 to 2014, she performed in several plays before deciding to return to the capital. Sergey Bezrukov welcomed her into his theater, and since 2014, Shpak has been an actress at the Moscow Provincial Theater. Unlike other directors in the city, Sergey Bezrukov is supportive of his actors working in film and even recommends them to other directors. Despite starting her film career relatively late, Vera Shpak has already played several roles in feature films and TV series. She made her screen debut in 2011 in minor roles and her first major film appearance was in the war drama "Team 8." She also appeared in the musical melodrama "Courage" and several TV series, including "Teachers" and "Other People's Nest."
