Véronique Louwagie: A French Republican Politician
Birth and EducationVéronique Louwagie was born on March 20, 1961, in Buis-sur-Damville, Eure, France. She holds a degree in accounting and auditing and worked in that field until 2014.
Political Career
Louwagie began her political career in 2002, joining the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). She served on the Regional Council of Lower Normandy from 2010 to 2012 and was elected to the General Council of Orne in 2011.
Member of National Assembly
In June 2012, Louwagie was elected to the French National Assembly as a member of The Republicans (formerly UMP) from Orne's 2nd constituency. She served on the Committee on the Economy, Finance, and Budget Control. In 2016, she presented a report on the taxation of food production.
Mayor of L'Aigle
In March 2014, Louwagie led the right-wing coalition to victory in the municipal elections in L'Aigle, becoming mayor. In December of that year, she was appointed National Secretary for Talent Spotting by UMP president Nicolas Sarkozy.
Re-Election and Other Positions
Louwagie retained her seat in the National Assembly in the 2017 parliamentary elections. She stepped down as mayor of L'Aigle in accordance with the law prohibiting the holding of multiple mandates. In 2021, she was elected to the Orne Departmental Council from the canton of L'Aigle.
