Early Life and Education

Veselin Georgiev, a renowned Bulgarian writer, playwright, and aphorist, was born in Pordim, Bulgaria, on September 28, 1935. He graduated from the Pedagogical Institute in Plovdiv and taught at a school while leading Esperanto language courses.

Career in Bulgaria and Russia

In 1961, Georgiev married a Soviet citizen and relocated to Moscow. He graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, specializing in drama. After his graduation, he returned to Bulgaria and worked as the head of the literary department at the Drama-Musical Theater in Tyrnava.

In 1977, upon his return to Moscow, Georgiev served as a staff member for Bulgarian representative offices, including the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Center. There, he directed the Bulgarian-Russian Chamber Theater for many years.

Literary Contributions

Georgiev's literary repertoire boasts 14 plays, including notable works such as "Flight," "Trial," "Abyss," and "Housewarming." He has published 12 books in various genres in Russian, Bulgarian, and Esperanto. Additionally, he has translated 30 plays from Russian to Bulgarian and 6 plays from Bulgarian to Russian.

Publications and Recognition

Georgiev has published numerous short stories and poems in prestigious magazines and newspapers, such as "Foreign Literature," "Crocodile," "Poetry," and "Literary Gazette." His autobiographical prose, "Memories Live," was released in Russian in 2010.

Georgiev has received numerous awards, including the "Moscow Komsomolets" newspaper award, the title of "People's Enlightener of Bulgaria," and honorary membership in the Union of Bulgarian Esperantists. He was also awarded the "Golden Pen of Muscovy" diploma and the A.P. Chekhov Prize.

Memberships and Affiliations

Georgiev is a member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers, the Union of Translators of Bulgaria, the Union of Writers of Russia, and the Union of Bulgarian Espersantists. He represents the Union of Bulgarian Writers in Moscow and is a correspondent for the newspaper "Bulgarian Writer."
