Early Life and Education

Born on June 7, 1940, in the village of Galitsa, Chernihiv Oblast, Ukraine, the author was the son of a history and geography teacher and a Ukrainian and Russian language teacher. After completing high school, he worked as a gas welder from 1957 to 1959.

He then attended a pedagogical college from 1959 to 1962 and served in the military from 1962 to 1965. While in the military, he began pursuing a degree in philosophy at the prestigious Moscow State University, which he continued after his service until 1970.

Professional Career

From 1965 to 1970, the author taught labor, physical education, and drawing at a school in Moscow Oblast. In 1970, he began his journalism career as the head of the art department, a roving correspondent, and the deputy responsible secretary of the newspaper "Literary Ukraine" and the magazine "Vitchyzna" in Kyiv.

Political Involvement and Literary Work

In 1973, the author moved to Moscow to work as the deputy responsible secretary for the "Literary Gazette." However, his political beliefs led to his exclusion from the Communist Party in 1974 for "anti-people propaganda" and "slander" against the party and Vladimir Lenin.

Despite this setback, the author continued to write satire and aphorisms. He became a member of the Moscow Society of Professional Writers in 1978 and was an active participant in the human rights movement from the early 1960s.

Journalism and Return to Ukraine

From 1978 to 1988, he worked as an editor and reviewer for the publishing house "Molodaya Gvardiya." In the 1990s, he served as editor of the newspaper "Samostiyna Ukraina" and as a political observer and literary editor for "Visti z Ukrainy."

In 1993, he returned to Ukraine to work as the head of literary production, an actor, and the commercial director of the Theater of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Literary Accomplishments

The author is a prolific writer with numerous publications to his credit. His aphorisms, satirical miniatures, and poetry have been featured in various collections in Ukraine, Germany, Russia, Estonia, and Bulgaria. He is a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Society of Political Prisoners and Repressed Persons.
