Early Life and Military Service
Victor Vladimirovich Groshevwas born on January 23, 1924, in the town of Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl Oblast. After completing seven years of schooling, Groshev went to work as a fitter at the Krasnoye Ekho linen mill. In August 1942, he was drafted into the Red Army and assigned to the 46th Auto-Armored Reserve Regiment, where he received training as an armored vehicle commander.
In June 1943, Groshev's regiment was incorporated into the 65th Volnovakha Tank Brigade, part of the 11th Tank Corps. During the Battle of the Kursk Salient, Groshev's armored vehicle crew fought alongside infantrymen, providing reconnaissance and communication support. For his bravery, Groshev was awarded the Medal "For Courage."
Service in the 11th Tank Corps
After the Battle of Kursk,the 11th Tank Corps was transferred to the Southern Front, where Groshev joined the reconnaissance platoon of the 65th Tank Brigade. In September 1943, he participated in the capture of Volnovakha and later took part in the liberation of Donbass.
In 1944, the 11th Tank Corps was deployed to Belarus, where Groshev distinguished himself in combat operations. By 1945, Groshev had become a junior sergeantand participated in the Vistula-Oder and Berlin operations. He earned the Order of Glory 2nd Class for his actions at Zvolen, where he destroyed a German bunker.
On April 16, 1945, Groshev and his reconnaissance group destroyed an enemy barricadein the suburbs of Berlin, clearing the way for Soviet forces to advance. For this action, he was awarded the Order of Glory 1st Class, making him a full cavalier of the order.
Post-War Life and Legacy
After the war, Groshev was demobilizedand returned to his hometown, where he worked at the Krasnoye Ekho factory. He was a member of the Communist Party and was awarded the Order of the October Revolution for his contributions to industry. Groshev passed away on December 8, 1977, leaving behind a legacy of bravery and service.
