Biography of Veniamin Nedoshivin

Veniamin Nedoshivin was a Soviet sniper and a Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born on October 13, 1917, in the village of Yermolaevo, now a settlement in the Kumeratau District of Bashkortostan, in a working-class family. He graduated from the Yermolaev Agricultural Technical School and worked as a zootechnician.

Nedoshivin joined the Red Army in 1938 and participated in the Soviet-Finnish War from 1939 to 1940. In June 1941, he fought on the front lines of the Great Patriotic War. In 1942, he completed the Junior Lieutenant courses and became the commander of a platoon of machine gunners in the 92nd Rifle Regiment (201st Rifle Division, 42nd Army, Leningrad Front).

One of his notable achievements was on January 25, 1944, when he led his troops in crossing the Izhora River and successfully attacked the enemy in the village of Russolovo. On January 27, he led his platoon in storming the village of Pizhma, but they ended up being surrounded. They held a circular defense and bravely repelled enemy attacks until reinforcements arrived. For his bravery and leadership, Nedoshivin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on October 5, 1944.

After being wounded in 1944, Nedoshivin was transferred to the reserves. He later worked in the organs of the KGB and Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1961, he graduated from the Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. From 1963, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Internal Service and retired. He lived in the city of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

Nedoshivin was decorated with the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner, and the Patriotic War 1st Class, as well as various medals. He authored several books, including "In the Hour of Great Trials" and "Facing Death."

Throughout his military career, Nedoshivin showed great courage, professionalism, and dedication to his country.
