Political Career
Ivan Georgiyevich Bortnyk was a Ukrainian politician who served as the Chairman of the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration twice, from June 2002 to June 2004 and from July 2004 to January 2005. He also held the same position in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast State Administration from July to January of 2005.
Early Life and Education
Born on August 10, 1952, in the village of Morozov in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Bortnyk initially worked as a foreman in an agricultural brigade after completing high school. Following his military service from 1970 to 1972, he pursued higher education, graduating in 1974 from the Khmelnytskyi Electromechanical Technical College and in 1980 from the Khmelnytskyi Technological Institute of Household Services as an engineer-mechanic.
Professional Experience
Bortnyk's career in the transportation industry began in 1973 as a lathe operator and later as a technician and engineer in various positions within the "Khmelnytskspeckommunstroy" trust. From 1978 to 1983, he headed the "Stroymontmehanizatsiya" department of the "Spetsselhozmontazh" trust.
He subsequently held leadership roles in the auto transportation sector: as director of the "Tourist" auto base in Khmelnytskyi (1983-1986), deputy head of the "Khmelnytskagroproptrans" production transport association (1986-1990), director of the "Agroproptrans" specialized auto transport society (1990-1996), and general director and chairman of the board of OJSC "Agrotechtrans" (1996-1998).
Government Positions
Bortnyk entered politics in 1998 when he became the Chairman of the Volochyska District State Administration in the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. In 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration, a position he held until 2004. During the same period, he briefly served as the Chairman of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast State Administration from July 2004 to January 2005.
Personal Life
Ivan Bortnyk was married to Emiliya Vladimirovna. They had two daughters, Oksana and Valentina.
