Early Life and Education
Viktor Leonidovich Matrosov was born in Moscow, Russia, on October 7, 1950. He pursued a distinguished academic career, obtaining his doctorate in physical and mathematical sciences and becoming a professor.
Academic Career
In 1987, Matrosov became the rector of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V.I. Lenin, which later became the Moscow Pedagogical State University. He assumed the position of Head of the Department of Informatics and Discrete Mathematics at MPU.
On March 16, 1990, he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR. On April 7, 1992, he became a full member of the Russian Academy of Education. On May 26, 2000, he was elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Informatics, Computing Technology, and Automation. He is currently a member of the Applied Mathematics and Informatics Section of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Administrative Roles
Matrosov has held significant administrative roles throughout his career. From 1987 onward, he has served as the rector of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute and later the Moscow Pedagogical State University. Additionally, he has been a member of the Presidential Council on Science, Technology, and Education since October 20, 2005.
Honors and Awards
Matrosov has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions to academia. He holds the honorary title of "Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation," awarded in 2001. He has also been decorated with the Order of the Badge of Honor, the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, the golden honorary badge "Public Recognition," medals, and two orders from the Russian Orthodox Church.
