Early Life and Education
Vitaliy Kupriy was born on August 20, 1973, in Dniprodzerzhynsk, Ukraine. In 1995, he graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk National University with a degree in economics. Later, in 2002, he earned a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie University in Australia.
Business and Entrepreneurial Ventures
From 1995 to 2006, Kupriy worked as a private entrepreneur in the construction, advertising, and trade industries.
Political Activism
Kupriy's political career began in April 2007 when he founded the public organization "Dniprodzerzhynsk Human Rights Union." In March 2008, he ran for mayor of Dniprodzerzhynsk and placed second.
Local Government Leadership
In 2010, Kupriy was elected to the Dniprodzerzhynsk City Council. He led the Alternative Executive Committee of Dniprodzerzhynsk until 2012.
Parliamentary Elections
In 2012, Kupriy ran for the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) as an independent candidate. He received 10.88% of the vote.
Euromaidan and Public Service
During the Euromaidan protests, Kupriy served as the on-duty commandant of the Kyiv City State Administration (KSCA) and head of its legal department. In April 2014, he led the Anti-Corruption and Crime Commission in Dniprodzerzhynsk.
Verkhovna Rada Member
In the 2014 snap parliamentary elections, Kupriy won the majority constituency No. 29 in the Dnipropetrovsk region. He was sworn in as a member of the Verkhovna Rada on November 27, 2014.
Russian Sanctions
On November 1, 2018, the Russian government imposed sanctions against 322 Ukrainian citizens, including Vitaliy Kupriy.
Personal Life and Hobbies
Kupriy is married and has three children. He enjoys philosophy and psychology, and has published scientific works. He is proficient in English and is a candidate master of sports in powerlifting. He holds the rank of Senior Lieutenant in the reserve of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
