Early Life and Education

Vitaliy Kvartsyany was born in Lutsk, Ukraine, and completed his primary education at Secondary School No. 15. He went on to study at the Kiev Sports Boarding School and graduated from Lutsk Pedagogical Institute with a degree in Physical Education.

Military Service and Playing Career

During his military service, Kvartsyany played for the SKA Chita team. After completing his service, he joined the football club Torpedo Lutsk, where he played as a forward. Later, he moved to Prybor Lutsk, where he led the team to victory in the Youth Cup.

Coaching Career

After his playing days, Kvartsyany began his coaching career as a player-coach for the Lutsk Instrument Factory team. In 1983, he led the team to victory in the Ukrainian SSR Cup. In 1984, Prybor won the Ukrainian SSR Championship and earned an invitation to an international tournament in Sofia.

From 1984 to 1988, Kvartsyany worked as an assistant coach at Torpedo Lutsk, helping the team win the Soviet Second League in 1989. He then moved to Poland to coach OKS Ostrów. In 1994, he returned to Volyn Lutsk, which was then playing in the Ukrainian Premier League.

Volyn Lutsk

Kvartsyany led Volyn Lutsk to victory in the Ukrainian First League in the 2001/02 season, earning promotion to the Premier League. In the 2002/03 season, Volyn reached the semi-finals of the Ukrainian Cup. In 2005/06, the team was relegated to the First League, where it spent four seasons. Kvartsyany guided the team back to the Premier League in the 2009/10 season and was named First League Coach of the Year.

Controversies and Departure

Kvartsyany was known for his outspoken personality and often made controversial statements at press conferences. In 2010, after a home match against Zorya Luhansk, he announced that he would resign as head coach due to interference from the city authorities and unfair officiating. He was later fined and suspended for one match. However, he ultimately decided to remain with Volyn.

In December 2011, Kvartsyany was dismissed from Volyn by the club's management.

Later Career

Following his departure from Volyn, Kvartsyany served as president of the Volyn Football Federation and held various coaching positions in Ukraine and abroad. He was awarded the Order of Merit (III Degree) in 2011 for his contributions to Ukrainian football.
