Early Life and Career

Vladimir Aleksandrovich Lutskywas born on May 21, 1918, in Sevastopol, Ukraine. After completing three years at a railway technical college in Simferopol, he was drafted into the Red Army in 1936.

In 1938, Lutsky graduated from the Kachin Red Banner Military Aviation School of Pilots. He remained there for three years as an instructor and later as a flight leader.

World War II

Lutsky joined the front lines in June 1942, serving initially with the 434th Fighter Aviation Regiment. He proved to be a highly skilled pilot, quickly earning a reputation for his exceptional flying abilities.

By July 1943, Lutsky had flown 135 combat missions and engaged in 75 aerial battles, destroying 11 enemy aircraft. His bravery and dedication led to his promotion to the rank of Guards Captain and the award of the title Hero of the Soviet Union on August 24, 1943.

During the war, Lutsky fought in the Battle of Stalingrad, the Battle of Kursk, and other major engagements. He became a renowned ace, credited with destroying a total of 20 enemy aircraft by the end of the conflict.

Post-War Career

After the war, Lutsky continued his military service in the Soviet Air Force. He mastered several types of jet fighters and rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the Commander of an aviation division. In 1957, he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff.

Lutsky held various responsible positions in the Air Force, including Head of the Research Center and Deputy Chief of the Air Force General Staff. He was promoted to Lieutenant General of Aviation and retired in 1972.

In recognition of his exceptional military service, Vladimir Aleksandrovich Lutsky received numerous awards, including:
