Dr. Volodymyr Mykhailovych Lyashko is a renowned Soviet and Ukrainian mathematician and mechanic, known for his significant contributions to the fields of elasticity, integral transforms, and harmonic functions.
Education and Early Career
Born in 1941, Lyashko graduated from the Berdyansk Pedagogical Institute in 1964, specializing in mathematics. He began his career as a teacher before pursuing advanced studies.
Academic and Research Trajectory
In 1970, Lyashko joined the Kharkiv Aviation Institute (KHAI), where he has held various academic positions, including Professor and Head of the Department of Theoretical Mechanics since 1977. He earned his Doctorate in Physical and Mathematical Sciences in 1977.
Lyashko's research interests lie primarily in the areas of elasticity, integral transforms, and harmonic functions. He has made significant contributions to the theory of R-functions, mixed boundary value problems, and hybrid integral transforms.
Recognition and Awards
In 1980, Lyashko was awarded the State Prize of the Ukrainian SSR in Science and Technology for his work on R-functions in elasticity theory. He has co-authored several monographs and textbooks, including "Contact Problems of Elasticity Theory for Nonclassical Domains" and "Theory of R-Functions and Actual Problems of Applied Mathematics."
