Biography of Vladimir Rogozin
Vladimir Pavlovich Rogozin was born on October 4, 1924, in the village of Volchensk, Kamensk District, Rostov Region. His father, Pavel Gerasimovich, was a party member and took part in establishing Soviet power in the city of Kamensk. His mother, Praskovia Ivanovna, raised two sons, Vladimir and Alexey, and a daughter, Valentina. The family moved to the city of Krasnodon in 1937.
In Krasnodon, Vladimir completed his 10 years of education in 1942, along with his future friends in the resistance movement, Viktor Petrov, Anatoly Popov, Ulyana Gromova, and others. He was repeatedly awarded Certificates of Commendation for his excellent academic performance.
During the summer vacations of 1941, many students from schools in Krasnodon were sent to work in the collective farms of Belovodsky District. Vladimir, along with a few classmates, was under the command of the district military commissariat. He distributed mobilization notices, patrolled the city, and attended military training sessions.
In 1942, the Rogozin family moved to the village of Volchensk. At the beginning of October, Vladimir was accepted into the ranks of the "Young Guard" based on the recommendations of his comrades. During the occupation, he became a member of the Lenin Komsomol and received a temporary Komsomol membership card from the commissioner of the Young Guards, Oleg Koshevoy. On the orders of the headquarters, he carried out many combat missions such as distributing leaflets and establishing communication with partisan groups operating in the forests near Volchensk.
Frequent visitors to Vladimir's house were his leaders, Viktor Petrov and Anatoly Popov, who worked together to develop plans for further resistance against the enemy.
In the village, the fascists organized two camps for Soviet prisoners of war. Having a good knowledge of the area, Vladimir studied their locations. He managed to transport four prisoners from the central camp, which was located on a former horse farm, with the help of local boys hiding them under animal feed. The headquarters developed and successfully executed a plan to escape over 70 prisoners from the second camp located on the northern outskirts of the village. Vladimir Rogozin actively participated in this operation.
On the night of January 10-11, 1943, the underground fighter was arrested by the fascists. During the journey, Vladimir attempted to escape but was recaptured. After being subjected to severe torture, he was executed on January 15, 1943, near the shaft of Mine No. 5. He was buried in a mass grave of heroes in the central square of the city of Krasnodon.
Vladimir Pavlovich Rogozin was posthumously awarded the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class and the Medal "Partisan of the Patriotic War" 1st Class.
