Biography of Vladimir Talashko
Childhood and YouthVladimir Talashko was born on March 6 in the city of Kovell in the Volyn region of Ukraine. He grew up in a working-class family, with his father working as a train engineer and his mother working in a factory. When Vladimir was 9 years old, his uncle, who worked as a miner, died in an accident, and shortly after, his grandfather was crushed by a minecart. Despite the dangers of the mining profession, Vladimir's brother, Alexander Talashko, chose to pursue a career in mining.
Early Career
Vladimir Talashko's passion for acting was noticed by Mikhail Amitov, a director at the Donetsk Music and Drama Theater, during a poetry recitation competition. Impressed by Talashko's talent, Amitov invited him to join the theater troupe, and this marked the end of Talashko's career as a miner. After completing his military service, Vladimir enrolled at the Ivan Karpenko-Kary Theater Institute in Kyiv, where he was mentored by Konstantin Stepankov and Nikolay Mashchenko. Despite facing difficulties during his studies, Talashko graduated with a diploma in dramatic art at the age of 26.
Film Career
Talashko gained recognition for his role as Sergey Skvortsov in Leonid Bykov's film "Only Old Men Are Going to Battle." This role became synonymous with the actor, and any controversies or scandals in his personal life were seen by fans as tarnishing the image of Skvortsov. Talashko also appeared in other notable films such as "Ballad of a Valiant Knight Ivanhoe," "Tenderness for a Roaring Beast," and "Battalions Ask for Fire."
Personal Life
Little is known about Vladimir Talashko's personal life. He was married to Lina, a chemist, and they have a daughter named Bogdana. Although they no longer live together, they maintain a friendly relationship. Talashko is a dog lover and was deeply affected by the death of his collie named Dar. To console him, students from the theater institute gifted him a mixed-breed dog named Esmeralda. Talashko also enjoys cooking and his favorite dish is borscht, which he learned to make from his mentor, Konstantin Stepankov.
Recent Controversy
In August 2021, Vladimir Talashko was accused of harassment. It was alleged that he invited female students and applicants from the theater institute to his home, kissed them, hugged them, and attempted to undress them against their will. Talashko vehemently denied the accusations of sexual harassment, but the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Alexander Tkachenko, announced the start of an official investigation.
