Vladyslav Prodan, a Moldovan economist and journalist, has emerged as a leading voice in the fight against climate change.
Early Life and Education
Vladyslav was born in Chisinau, Moldova, and graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) in 2018. He subsequently moved to Malmö, Sweden, and enrolled in a master's program at Lund University in 2019.
Career in Economics and Journalism
From 2013 to 2017, Vladyslav worked for Business Class, an economic journal in Chisinau, where he specialized in writing monthly reviews of European football. At MGIMO, he co-founded the Sustainable Development Goals Forum.
Advocacy for Climate Action
In 2019, Vladyslav began to focus on the impact of climate change on the economies of developing countries. He joined the United Nations Development Programme for a brief period from January to July 2020.
Membership in the UN Youth Climate Advisory Group
On July 27, 2020, Vladyslav was appointed a member of the first-ever UN Youth Climate Advisory Group. Along with other young climate activists, he advises the UN Secretary-General on climate change strategy and amplifies the voices of youth in high-level decision-making.
