Juliusz Kossak

Early Life and Education

Juliusz Kossak was born into Polish nobility and received his education in Paris. However, his studies were interrupted by the outbreak of the Polish uprising of 1863.

Political Involvement

Kossak returned to Poland and participated in the uprising, resulting in his arrest. After his release, he resided in Switzerland, where he penned political pamphlets such as "By? albo nie by?" and "Co robi??".

Literary Pursuits

In 1867, Kossak settled near Kraków and embarked on a literary career. He began by publishing short stories, novels, and critical essays in various journals.

Dramatic Works

Kossak's greatest fame stemmed from his plays. His full-length dramas included "Po ?liski?j drodze" (1868) and "Klaudyja" (1871). However, it was his one-act plays that gained immense popularity: "Pokusa", "Balowe r?kawiczki", "Po ?lubie", "Zakochana para", "Zawierucha", "W jesieni", and "Celina".
