Early Life and Education
Václav Zelenka was born into a musical family in the Czech Republic. His musical journey began at the tender age of eight, initially with piano lessons, followed by violin studies. It was not until the age of 14 that he discovered his true calling: the trumpet.
Musical Training
Zelenka's formal musical education commenced at the Brno Conservatory, where he studied under the tutelage of Bedřich Dvořák, graduating in 1968. He subsequently pursued his studies at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts, where he honed his skills under the guidance of Václav Paržik, graduating in 1972.
Early Career
Zelenka's professional debut took place in 1968, when he joined the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. His talent quickly gained recognition, leading him to relocate to Prague in 1972, where he became a member of the National Theatre Orchestra.
International Breakthrough
In 1974, Zelenka's career took a dramatic turn when he won the First Prize at the International Music Festival "Prague Spring." His triumph was not merely a personal victory, but also a testament to the excellence of Czech brass playing. Two years later, he further solidified his reputation as an exceptional trumpeter by winning the prestigious international competition in Toulouse, France.
Soloist Career
From 1980 onwards, Zelenka held the post of soloist with the Prague Symphony Orchestra. Throughout his illustrious career, he has performed as a soloist with numerous renowned orchestras around the world, showcasing his virtuosic technique and profound musicality.
