Biography of Vlado Ilievski
Vlado Ilievski is a Macedonian basketball player who plays as a point guard for the team "Rabotnicki" and the national team of North Macedonia. He began his career in the Serbian team "Partizan" and played there until 2000, after which he spent one season in Antalya. In 2001, he moved to the Slovenian team "Olimpija", where he returned several times. In 2003, he left the Slovenian club and joined the Spanish team "Barcelona", where he played for two seasons. In 2005, he went to Italy and played for the teams "Virtus" from Rome and Bologna, as well as for "Siena". In 2008, he returned to "Olimpija", but the following year he went back to Spain to play for the club "Baskonia". His time with the Basque team was difficult, and he quickly returned to "Olimpija" at the end of the season. During his performances, Vlado received offers from "Panathinaikos", but the Slovenian team consistently overpriced the player. On August 7, Ilievski finally left the club and accepted an offer from the Turkish team "Efes Pilsen", signing a one-year contract with the possibility of extension for another year.
In the national team
Vlado Ilievski was supposed to debut for the national team of the Republic of Macedonia at EuroBasket 2009, but he suffered a hip injury, which required surgery and forced him to miss the tournament. However, he was included in the roster for the next tournament. In the quarterfinal match, his team caused a sensation by defeating Lithuania, thanks to his game: with 11 seconds left in the game, Vlado successfully made a long shot, and then scored another point from a free throw, securing a 67-65 victory for Macedonia. According to him, the long shot was the best of his career.
