Early Life and Education
Vyacheslav Aleksandrovich Tabolin was born on June 13, 1926, in Vladimir, Russia, to Alexander Fedorovich Tabolin (1882-1968) and Lyubov Vasilyevna Tabolin (1894-1970). In 1944, after graduating from high school with honors, Tabolin initially pursued engineering at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University. However, after three years, he transferred to the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute named after N.I. Pirogov, inspired by his experience working in an evacuation hospital during World War II.
Medical Career
After graduating with honors in 1953, Tabolin entered the clinical residency and subsequently the postgraduate program in pediatrics at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, where he was mentored by Professor N.I. Osinovsky. He defended his doctoral dissertation on "Hemolytic Disease of Newborns: Pathogenesis, Clinical Manifestations, Differential Diagnosis, and Treatment" in 1964.
In 1963, Tabolin became the head of the Department of Hospital Pediatrics at the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute, which later became the Department of Pediatrics No. 2 at the Russian State Medical University. From 1986 to 1999, he served as the chief pediatrician of Russia's 4th Main Medical Administration.
Scientific Contributions
As a renowned pediatrician, Tabolin's scientific contributions have significantly advanced Russian medicine. He is renowned for his in-depth studies on hemolytic disease of newborns, neonatal neurotoxicity, and the differential diagnosis of newborn jaundice. His research has been instrumental in improving the care and management of newborns and infants.
Education and Training
Tabolin has dedicated himself to the education and training of pediatricians. He has supervised 38 doctoral and 132 candidates of medical sciences, many of whom have become leading specialists in pediatrics in Russia and abroad. He has authored and co-authored numerous textbooks and publications on various aspects of pediatrics.

Personal Life
Tabolin is married to Svetlana Anatolyevna Zhdanova (1927-1993), and they have two daughters, Tatyana Vyacheslavovna (born 1952) and Olga Vyacheslavovna (born 1958). His hobbies include poetry, architecture, ancient Russian art, and religious history.
