Walter Hefner, a businessman and billionaire, was born on September 13, 1913, in Switzerland. As a young man, he began working for General Motors Corporation in its Swiss division. After some time, Hefner traveled to England where he acquired an automotive franchise and later returned home to open a Volkswagen dealership.

Entrepreneurial Ventures

In 1957, Walter Hefner became the first person in Switzerland to import an IBM system for business use, firmly believing in the future of computer devices. This led to the establishment of Automation Center A.G in Zurich in 1964, a computer services company. In 1976, he expanded his operations by directing them towards the United States. In 1987, Hefner's organization merged with Russell Artzt's and Charles Wang's Computer Associates, transforming it into a major conglomerate where Hefner remained the most powerful shareholder. Additionally, he still owns AMAG Automobil-und Motoren, a highly successful Swiss automotive structure.

Passion for Horses

Horses hold a special place in Walter Hefner's life. In 1962, he purchased the 440-acre Moyglare stud farm in County Kildare, Ireland. His thoroughbred racehorses have won numerous prestigious races around the world, including in England, France, Ireland, North America, Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong.
