Early Life and Wartime Service
Hans Kriesmann was born in 1929. He began working as a driver after completing his primary education. During the final days of World War II, he was conscripted into the Wehrmacht at the age of 15 and served as an anti-aircraft assistant.
Post-War Career in the People's Police
After the war, Kriesmann worked as a laborer, a shipping clerk, and a driver. In 1949, he joined the People's Police and attended the Berlin-Treptow People's Police School from 1949 to 1951.
Military Education and Leadership
From 1952 to 1956, Kriesmann studied at the Military Academy in Moscow. Upon his return, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Operational Officer for the 1st Motorized Rifle Division.
From 1960 to 1966, he commanded the 1st Motorized Rifle Division. In 1968, he attended the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Soviet Armed Forces.
Command of the 9th Tank Division
After returning from the Soviet Union, Kriesmann commanded the 9th Tank Division from 1968 to 1973. He was promoted to Major General in 1969.
Service in the 3rd and 5th Military Districts
From 1973 to 1974, Kriesmann served as Deputy Chief of Combat Training and Deputy Commander of the 3rd Military District. Subsequently, from 1974 to 1977, he was Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of the 5th Military District.
Later Career and Death
From 1977 to 1984, Kriesmann was First Deputy Director of the Friedrich Engels National People's Army Military Academy in Dresden. He passed away on August 30, 1984, at the age of 55.
