Early Life and Education
Walter Goggins Sanders was born on November 10, 1971, in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised in Lithia Springs, Georgia, in an 1880s farmhouse that was renovated. At the age of 12, he serendipitously wandered into Shea Griffin's office and expressed his desire to become an actor. He later graduated from Lithia Springs High School in 1989.

From 1992 to 2000, Goggins appeared in seven films in minor roles. In 2001, he ventured into producing with the short film "The Accountant." The film won an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film, though Goggins is not listed as an official winner.
Goggins' breakout role came in the television series "The Shield." In an interview after filming, he recounted a childhood story in which he lost his teeth in a baseball game and faced a lengthy recovery. The incident inspired his bright and distinctive smile.
