In 2007, while searching for Christmas gifts for her 4-year-old son, Wendy came up with a unique idea. Inspired by a drawing her son had made, she decided to sew a custom toy based on his own artwork. The result was a delightful surprise for her son and sparked the idea for Child's Own Studio, a business dedicated to turning children's drawings into tangible toys.

A Child-Centered Approach

Initially, Child's Own Studio's popularity was limited in Canada. Orders were sporadic, and children were not actively involved in the creation process. However, Wendy listened to feedback from her customers and revolutionized her business model. Children now played a central role, submitting letters with their drawings and descriptions. The orders skyrocketed, coming from Canada, the United States, and Europe.

With the influx of orders, Wendy faced the challenge of meeting demand. She began scheduling orders months in advance. For Wendy, toy-making became more than just a job.
