Born in Germany, [conductor and music educator](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conductor) [Hans Bruckner-Rüggeberg](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_Bruckner-Rüggeberg) began his career as an assistant to Hans Knappertsbusch at the Bavarian State Opera.
Early Career
In 1934, he replaced Herbert von Karajan as first music director in Ulm. From 1938, he lived and worked in Hamburg, initially as director of the Hamburg Teachers' Choir.
Hamburg and Teaching
In 1943, Bruckner-Rüggeberg became a professor at the Hamburg Conservatory (now the Hamburg University of Music and Drama). He taught esteemed students such as Anton Kolar and Christoph Prick.
Conducting and Recordings
Bruckner-Rüggeberg conducted various Hamburg orchestras, including the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra. He gained renown for his recordings of Kurt Weill operas, featuring Lotte Lenya, from 1956-1960. He also recorded excerpts from operas by Carl Maria von Weber, Reinhard Keiser, and others.
