Early Life and Education
Yana Vladimirovna Sobolevskaya, a Ukrainian actress of theater and cinema, was born on August 1, 1980, in Donetsk, Ukraine. Her passion for acting emerged at a young age, fostered by her talent and physical attributes.
Sobolevskaya's musical abilities led her parents to enroll her in a music school. After completing her studies, she pursued a degree in vocal performance at the Donetsk State Conservatory named after S. Prokofiev. However, her artistic aspirations did not end there.
Driven by her desire to become a theater actress, Sobolevskaya traveled to Kyiv and enrolled in the Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema, and Television under the tutelage of People's Artist of Ukraine V.I. Zimnaya. In 2005, she graduated with honors and embarked on her professional acting career.
Theatrical Career
Soon after completing her university studies, Sobolevskaya joined the "Svobodna Scena" theater in Kyiv. Her notable performances included roles in "A Little Wine-2," "Roberto Zucco," "Today We Play a Lesson," and "A Woman from the Past."
In 2011, after several years at "Svobodna Scena," Sobolevskaya moved to the Kyiv Academic Theater of Comedy and Drama, where she continues to perform today. Among her acclaimed roles are Angelina in "Don Juan, or the Lessons of Seduction" and Maria in "Carnival of the Flesh." Sobolevskaya's nuanced portrayal of contrasting emotions in "Carnival of the Flesh" earned her critical acclaim and impressed audiences.
Film and Television
Sobolevskaya made her film debut in 2005 in "Indirect Evidence" alongside Sergey Makovetskiy and Svetlana Ryabova. Her breakthrough role came in 2008 with the lead in "Love on Asphalt," where she portrayed Alka, a victim of a hit-and-run accident.
In 2010, Sobolevskaya starred in "Demons," a crime series depicting the aftermath of property redistribution in the 1990s. She also appeared in "Angels Don't Die" and "Grass Under the Snow," the latter of which saw her play Valeria, the wife of an oligarch.
Sobolevskaya's diverse filmography includes medical dramas such as "Waiting List" and "My Friend's Bride." She also starred in the detective series "Under the Cross of Love" and "Gunpowder and Shot," playing the investigator's wife.
Rise to Fame
Sobolevskaya's breakout role came in 2014 with the popular series "Mafia: Game of Survival," in which she played the mother of the protagonist. The detective series, which aired on Channel One, garnered high ratings and played a significant role in establishing Sobolevskaya's career.
Despite often playing supporting roles, Sobolevskaya remains hopeful that her portfolio will soon be filled with lead and central characters.
Personal Life
Sobolevskaya leads a private life and has not publicly disclosed any details about her husband. In her only public comment on her marital status, she expressed contentment with her married life but acknowledged challenges in her relationship with her husband's parents. Sobolevskaya has stated that she is not yet planning to have children.
