Early Career

Éric Bernard, a French racing driver, embarked on his motorsports journey in 1984 by capturing the French Formula Renault championship. Advancing to Formula 3 the following year, he dominated the French Formula 3 championship in 1986, accompanied by a triumph in the prestigious Monaco Formula 3 race.

Formula 1 Debut

Bernard's Formula 1 debut occurred in 1987 with the Larrousse team, but a regulation infringement resulted in his results being scratched. Despite three seasons in Formula 1 with Larrousse and AGS, he failed to accumulate any championship points.

Sports Car Success

In 1991, Bernard joined Peugeot's sports car team. He claimed two victories that season and was crowned World Sports Car Champion in 1992 with three wins, including the illustrious 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Continued Racing Career

Following the closure of the World Sports Car Championship in 1993, Bernard ventured into various racing series. He emerged victorious in the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice more (1994 and 1995), filled in for Philippe Alliot in two Formula 1 races with Larrousse in 1994, and competed in FIA GT and ALMS. In 1999, he partnered with BMW to claim another victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
