Yuriy Artemenko: A Life Dedicated to Journalism and Public Service

Early Life and Education

Yuriy Artemenko was born in Ukraine in 1961. In 1989, he graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv with a degree in journalism.

Journalism Career

Artemenko began his journalism career in 1983 as a correspondent for the newspaper "Komsomolets Zaporozhye." Over the years, he held various positions including editor-in-chief and executive director. From 2000, he also served as General Director of the "Keramist" publishing house.

Political Involvement

Artemenko entered politics in 1998 when he was elected to the Zaporozhye Oblast Council. From 2002 to 2005, he was elected to the Ukrainian Parliament, representing the "Nashe Ukrayina" ("Our Ukraine") party.

Governor of Zaporozhye

In 2005, Artemenko was appointed Governor of the Zaporozhye Oblast, a position he held until November 2005.

Media Regulator and Public Service

From 2008 to 2010, Artemenko chaired the Public Council of the Ukrainian State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting. In 2014, he was appointed Chairman of the National Council of Ukraine for Television and Radio Broadcasting, a role he held until 2019.

Later Career

After leaving the National Council, Artemenko became Vice President of the international film company Star Media. In 2020, he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Karpenko-Kary Kyiv National University of Theater, Cinema, and Television.

Artemenko has received numerous awards for his contributions to journalism and public service, including:
