Biography of Yuriy Kostyuk

Yuriy Ilyich Kostyuk was born on February 10, 1977, in Lutsk, Ukrainian SSR. He is a Ukrainian athlete and a champion of the Paralympic Games.

At the age of 17, Kostyuk suffered a severe spinal injury which confined him to a wheelchair. Despite his injury, he started engaging in various sports such as powerlifting, orienteering, and table tennis. After the Winter Paralympic Games in Nagano, he developed a passion for cross-country skiing. In 2001, he achieved the title of Master of Sports of International Class in biathlon.

Currently, Kostyuk is training under the guidance of Valeriy Kazakov and Vladimir Gashin.
