Early Life and Education

Yuri Shabelnikov was born on December 24, 1959, in Taganrog, Russia. His artistic journey began under the tutelage of Leonid Stukanov. From 1977 to 1979, he studied art at the Rostov State Pedagogical Institute in Rostov-on-Don.

Pedagogy and Art Practice

From 1982 to 1995, Shabelnikov taught painting at the Children's Art School in Taganrog. In 1987, he joined the artistic movement known as "Art or Death." From 1990 to 1991, he served as a set designer for the Taganrog Drama Theater.

Moscow Years

In 1995, Shabelnikov relocated to Moscow, where he continues to live and work. Since 2006, he has lectured and conducted masterclasses at the Free Workshops School of Contemporary Art at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

Exhibitions and Recognition

Shabelnikov's works have been exhibited widely, including:
