Brigadier General of the Georgian Army
Brigadier General Zaza Gogava is a distinguished Georgian army officer who has served as the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces since November 2006.
Early Career
Gogava graduated from the Tbilisi State Technical University in 1994. He began his military career in 1995 as a member of the "Omega" special task force of the Georgian Security Service.
Military Training and Experience
Gogava has held various positions within the Georgian Armed Forces. From 1995 to 2002, he underwent extensive training in the United States. He was then assigned to the Special Operations Team.
Rise through the Ranks
In 2004, Gogava was appointed commander of the Special Forces Brigade of the Georgian Ministry of Defense. He subsequently became Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces in 2006.
Chief of the Joint Staff
Following a reshuffle within the Ministry of Defense, Gogava was appointed Chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces in November 2006. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the Georgian Armed Forces.
