The Early Years and Activism

Zbigniew Bujak, who was appointed as the Head of the Main Customs Office, first made his mark in Polish politics during the communist era. As a young worker at the Ursus tractor factory, he actively participated in the Workers' Defense Committee (KOR).

A Leader of Solidarity

In August 1980, Bujak played a pivotal role in organizing strikes at the factory and became the head of the regional Solidarity union at the age of 26. He gained notoriety for evading capture by security forces for the longest period after the imposition of martial law in December 1981.

Political Career and Education

Following the political transition in Poland, Bujak was elected to the Sejm (parliament). However, he later pursued his academic ambitions, earning a master's degree in political science from the University of Warsaw. During this time, he was affiliated with several political parties before joining the Freedom Union.

Head of the Main Customs Office

As the new Head of the Main Customs Office, Bujak emphasized the dual responsibility of adapting the customs service to EU standards and demonstrating the transformative abilities of former revolutionaries. He also hinted at a third, undisclosed goal.

Ongoing Education

In addition to his official duties, Bujak is pursuing a degree in philosophy through distance learning.
