Early Life and Education

Born on February 7, 1956, in the Tomsk region of Russia, Zinaida Petrovna Greceanii's parents were Moldovan villagers who had been unjustly convicted and imprisoned in a camp near Tomsk. Greceanii completed her education at the Chisinau Economic College in 1974 and later earned a degree in economics from Chisinau State University.

Professional Career

Early Work Experience

After graduating from college, Greceanii worked as an accountant and gradually rose through the ranks in the financial administration of Brichani district, Moldava. From 1994 to 1996, she held various positions within the Ministry of Finance, including Deputy Head of the Main Department for Budget Development and Analysis and Head of the Local Budget Department.

From 1996 to 2002, Greceanii held key roles in the Ministry of Finance, including Head of the Main Department for Budget Development and Analysis and Deputy Minister of Finance. In 2002, she was appointed Minister of Finance by Presidential Decree.
