Biography of Zinaida Kalay-Kleitman
Zinaida Kalay-Kleitman is an Israeli diplomat who was born in Kishinev, Moldavian SSR, in a family of an engineer and a textile factory worker. She graduated from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem with a degree in Sovietology.
Diplomatic Career
Kalay-Kleitman started her diplomatic career in 1986. From 1995 to 1998, she worked as an advisor to the Israeli Embassy in the Russian Federation. From 1998 to 2001, she served as the Deputy Director of the Eurasia Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. From 2001 to 2005, she was an advisor to the Minister-Plenipotentiary in the Israeli mission to the United Nations.
Work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
From 2005 to 2007, Kalay-Kleitman worked in the Bureau for Diaspora Affairs and Interreligious Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel.
Ambassador to Ukraine
From 2007 to 2011, she served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Ukraine, becoming the third consecutive woman to hold this position.
