Zinaida Zorich: A Renowned Soviet Actress

Zinaida Zorich was a renowned Soviet actress who received the prestigious title of People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1959.

Early Career

Zorich's acting career commenced in 1912 when she debuted at the St. Petersburg Theater of the People's House of Temperance. She subsequently graced stages in various cities throughout Russia, including Kazan, Samara, Saratov, Kiev, Odessa, Nizhny Novgorod, and Rostov-on-Don.

Moscow Years

In 1944, Zorich became a member of the Moscow Drama Theater. An intriguing legend associated with the actress emerged in Rostov-on-Don. It is said that architect Leonid Eberh, who designed the city's iconic House of Actors, was captivated by Zorich's performance at the Gorky Theater. As a testament to his admiration, the building is said to resemble the letter "Z" from an aerial perspective, immortalizing the actress's initials.

Moscow Theater on Malaya Bronnaya

From 1944 until her passing, Zorich was associated with the Moscow Theater on Malaya Bronnaya. Beyond her acting prowess, she also engaged in directing and teaching.

Legacy and Demise

Zinaida Zorich breathed her last on October 5, 1971, in Moscow. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the New Donskoy Cemetery. Her contributions to the world of art continue to be cherished and remembered.
