Early Life and Career
Zoran Arunović is a Serbian sports shooter who began her shooting career in 2001 at the "Polizhajak" club. Inspired by her older sister Jelena, a successful shooter herself, Arunović eventually joined the "Crvena Zvezda" club.
Junior and European Success
Arunović made her mark in 2004 when she won a silver medal with the Serbian junior team at the European Championships in Dyoer. The following year, she claimed a bronze medal in Estonia. Her breakthrough came in 2006 when she won gold in both individual and team events at the European Junior Championships in Moscow.
World Championship Triumph
At the 2006 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Zagreb, Arunović showcased her talent by securing a bronze in the 10m air pistol junior team and gold in the 25m pistol junior individual competition. She continued her impressive performances by winning a gold medal in the 10m air pistol at the 2009 Mediterranean Games in Pescara.
Arunović's crowning achievement came at the 2010 ISSF World Shooting Championships in Munich, where she became the first Serbian athlete to qualify for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol event and earned team silver medals in both the 10m air pistol and 25m pistol events alongside her sister Jelena and Jasna Sekaric.
Olympic Appearances
Arunović made her Olympic debut at the 2012 Summer Olympics, where she finished in 4th place in the women's 25m pistol and 7th in the women's 10m air pistol. She returned to the Olympics in 2016, competing in the women's 25m pistol and finishing 11th in the women's 10m air pistol.
Recognition and Legacy
Arunović's success has brought her numerous accolades. In 2010, she was ranked No. 1 in the ISSF competition list for the air pistol discipline. The Serbian Olympic Committee named her Sportswoman of the Year. In 2011, she received the "May Prize" from the Serbian Sports Association. Arunović remains an inspiration to young shooters and a symbol of Serbian excellence in the sport.
