Nabil Ghoulam: Algerian Midfielder with a Goal-Scoring Edge
Nabil Ghoulam, born in France to Algerian parents, is a midfielder who currently plays for English club Middlesbrough and the Algerian national team.
Early Career in France
Ghoulam began his professional football career in 2005 with French club Noisy-le-Sec. He moved to Belgian side Kortrijk in 2008 and then to Charleroi in 2009.
Premier League Breakthrough
In January 2010, Ghoulam was loaned to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers with an option to sign a permanent contract. He made his debut on January 26, 2010, against Liverpool as a substitute. His first goal for the team came in the final match of the Premier League season against Sunderland, securing a victory for his side. Shortly after, the club signed Ghoulam to a three-year contract.
International Debut
Ghoulam debuted for the Algerian national team on May 28, 2010, in a match against the Republic of Ireland, which Algeria lost 3-0. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Ghoulam played in all three matches for the team as a substitute, against Slovenia, England, and the United States. However, Algeria finished last in their group and failed to advance to the next round of the tournament.
Injury Prone but Resilient
Ghoulam's career has been marked by injuries, including a serious knee injury in 2017 that kept him out for several months. Despite these setbacks, he has remained a key player for both club and country when fit.
