Alexander Kølpin: A Renowned Danish Dancer and Choreographer

Early Life and Training

Born in 1965, Alexander Kølpin is a Danish dancer and choreographer who began his dance training at the Danish Royal Ballet School. He also attended summer courses at the American Ballet.

Career as a Dancer

In 1984, Kølpin commenced his career as a dancer with the Danish Royal Ballet, where he quickly rose to the rank of Principal. Throughout the late 1980s, he also performed as a Principal with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and renowned American companies such as O'Day Dances and Twyla Tharp.

International Guest Appearances

From 1988 to 1999, Kølpin toured the world as a guest soloist, showcasing his remarkable talent in various countries.

Artistic Direction and Choreography

In 1991, Kølpin established and directed the group "Stars and Soloists of the Royal Danish Ballet" until 1995. Subsequently, from 1996 to 2001, he founded and became the Artistic Director of the Copenhagen International Ballet. As a choreographer, he created several acclaimed productions for this company, including "Fireplay," "Exit 2000," and "Les Sylphides."
