Early Life and Education
Dr. Mikhail Morgulis was born in the Soviet Union. He pursued his education, completing degrees from Perm Aviation College, Kazan Aviation Institute, and Kyiv University. Subsequently, he earned a doctorate from the Moscow Aviation Institute.
Professional Career in the USSR
Dr. Morgulis worked extensively in the Soviet aerospace industry. He held positions at the Antonov Design Bureau, the Glushko Rocket Design Bureau, and various academic institutions, including Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow Institute of Aviation Technology, and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Arrest and Imprisonment
In 1972, Dr. Morgulis was arrested by the KGB for distributing writings by dissidents Andrei Sakharov and Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. He spent 15 years in labor camps and exile before being released in 1987 and expelled from the Soviet Union.
Life and Career in the United States
Upon arriving in the United States, Dr. Morgulis resumed his academic and scientific work. He taught at several American universities and served as a Senior Research Scientist at NASA and the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory.
