Childhood and Education
Alexandre De Croo was born on November 3, 1975, in Vilvoorde, Flemish Brabant, Belgium. He is the son of Françoise Desguin and Herman De Croo, a prominent Belgian politician. De Croo attended the Dutch-language Vrije Universiteit Brussel, graduating in 1998 with a degree in business engineering.
International Experience and Business Career
In 2002, De Croo enrolled at Northwestern University in Chicago, USA. He received an MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management in 2004. From 1999 until 2006, he worked at the Boston Consulting Group. In 2006, he founded Darts-ip, a company providing services to intellectual property professionals.
Political Career
De Croo entered politics in 2009, becoming the leader of the Open Flemish Liberals and Democrats party. He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium from 2012 to 2020. From December 2018 to October 2020, he also held the position of Minister of Finance.
Prime Ministership
On October 1, 2020, Alexander De Croo was appointed Prime Minister of Belgium. He represents the Flemish community and is Belgium's youngest Prime Minister since 1841.
