Early Life and Education
Alexander Mikhailovich Litvinov was born on June 11, 1970, in Dolzhansky, Ukraine. His father was a school principal, and his mother taught mathematics. From a young age, Alexander exhibited an aptitude for the arts. He began writing poems at the age of 7, painting at 12, and learning guitar at 14. He also led his school's VIA (vocal-instrumental ensemble).
After graduating high school with honors, Alexander enrolled in the Riga Military-Political College. However, he soon transferred to the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute to study geological exploration. His studies were interrupted by his military service.
Musical Beginnings
In 1991, Alexander Litvinov formed the band "Davai-Davai" ("Let's Go-Let's Go"). Around the same time, he met his future wife, Polina (Pam). In 1994, Alexander performed at the "Oskolskaya Lira" festival, where he jokingly claimed to be "Venia Dyrkin from Maksyutovka." Under this pseudonym, he won the festival's award.
Career in Sverdlovsk and Moscow
In the fall of 1994, Dyrkin and Pam moved to Sverdlovsk, where Vеня worked as a physics teacher. They welcomed their son Denis the same year. From 1996 onwards, Vеня Dyrkin was based in Moscow. His charm, diverse talents, sincerity, and charisma attracted a large following.
Recording and Illness
In March 1997, Dyrkin recorded his album "Vse Budet Khorosho" ("Everything Will Be Alright") in just three days. October of the same year brought a heartbreaking diagnosis of lymphogranulomatosis.
Legacy and Influence
Venia Dyrkin passed away on August 21, 1999, in Korolyov, Moscow Oblast. His grave is in Sverdlovsk. His illness had a profound impact on his music, with many of his later songs conveying a message to not waste time.
In memory of Venia Dyrkin, music festivals such as "DrFest," "Vestenie Svyat Leta," and "Venichkina Raduga" are held annually.
