Alexander Yaskevich: A Ukrainian Footballer's Journey

Early Career

Alexander Yaskevich was born and raised in Ukraine. He began his footballing career at the Sdyushor Ukrayina youth academy in Luhansk, where he honed his skills from 2003 to 2007. In 2007, Yaskevich made his professional debut with Shakhtar Svedlovsk, where he played for two seasons.

Journey through Ukrainian Clubs

Seeking a new challenge, Yaskevich joined Stal Alchevsk in 2010. After 16 appearances, he moved to Mykolaiv. However, his time there was cut short, and he returned to Shakhtar Svedlovsk in 2013. Unfortunately, the club disbanded in 2014, leaving Yaskevich without a team.

He eventually joined Stal Dniprodzerzhynsk in the latter half of 2014. In 2015, he played for two clubs in the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) championship: Gornyak Rovenky and Zarya-Stal Luhansk.

Controversial Match for LPR

Yaskevich's decision to play for the LPR national team in 2015 drew significant controversy. The match against Abkhazia, which ended 1-0 in favor of the latter, raised concerns over his allegiance to Ukraine.

Attempted Return to Ukraine

Efforts to join Avanhard Kramatorsk in Ukraine's First League in 2015 were unsuccessful due to the ban on players who had participated in LPR matches. Yaskevich spent the 2015-16 season with Yevpatoriya in Crimea.

Despite the ban, Yaskevich managed to convince Avanhard Kramatorsk to include him in their squad in 2016. However, the decision was quickly overturned, and he faced a lifetime ban from football activities in Ukraine.

Career in Donbass

Since 2017, Yaskevich has played in the Donbass League. He represented Spartak Luhansk in 2016/17 and has been with Shakhtar Svedlovsk since 2017. This club is unrelated to the original Shakhtar Svedlovsk that played in Ukrainian tournaments before 2014.
