Biography of Alexander Lukyanchenko
Early Life and EducationAlexander Lukyanchenko was born in the village of Berdychi in the Yasinovat district of the Stalin region. He completed a four-year school in Berdychi and then an eight-year school in Avdeevka. In 1962, he enrolled in the Donetsk Construction Technical School. After completing his studies, Lukyanchenko was drafted into the Soviet army and sent to a school for junior tank commanders.
In 1979, he graduated from the Makeevka Engineering and Construction Institute with a degree in Civil and Industrial Construction. In 1999, he obtained a degree in Organizational Management from the Donetsk State Academy of Management. Lukyanchenko worked at the "Stroydetal" factory and later at "Donetskzhilstroy" as the chief engineer.
Career
On November 27, 1992, Lukyanchenko was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Donetsk City Executive Committee. From 1994 to 1996, he worked in the Donetsk Regional State Administration, initially as Deputy Chairman and later as First Deputy Chairman.
After his time in the regional administration, Lukyanchenko served as the First Deputy General Director of the Administration of Automobile Roads in the Donetsk region for two years. He then became the First Deputy Mayor of Donetsk, working under Vladimir Vasilyevich Rybak in the Donetsk City Council.
In 2002, Lukyanchenko ran for the position of Mayor of Donetsk and emerged victorious in the elections held on March 31. He was re-elected for a second term on March 26, 2006, and for a third term on October 31, 2010.

As the Mayor of Donetsk, Alexander Lukyanchenko played a significant role in the city's development and governance from 2002 to 2014. He implemented various initiatives and projects aimed at improving the city's infrastructure, economy, and living conditions for its residents.
